fun in epic proportions
this weekend was full of adventures: some cool, some uncool, and some downright funny.
i started off friday in my first dungeons and dragons combat. myra the mulatto dwarf fighter was able to axe someone to death, which was cool. it was too short, but otherwise fun. there were times when i was tempted to bust out in uncomfortable, "not sure what to do" laughter, but i was able to control myself. reed was a great dungeon master, with vivid descriptions and patience explaining how we were to do everything. afterwards it was a pretty quiet evening of sushi and fooley cooley.
saturday was all about work avoidance (*gasp*) and ended in desperation for a place to sleep. dylan and i went to the city primarily to meet up with some of his em411 friends, but included a side trip to amoeba's. the goods: owen, hood, autechre, jel, and kid606 - a well spent $50 in my opinion. then we ended up heading towards one of the weirdest neighborhoods of san francisco i have ever been to. potrero was desolate, quiet and had a really eerie quality to it. to the left were industrial shipyards and to the right were dilapidated store fronts. at one point i felt like i was in some zombie movie/video game. we then met up with one of his friends and his girlfriend at sublounge, which was a pretty cool bar in the midst of this strange neighborhood. eventually everyone who was supposed to be there was there and it became loud and entertaining. it was fun watching dylan in his element with his people talking about his music. there were some really odd moments too, like when we were handed a plastic banana because we were....i don't remember (i am allowed to plead the fifth when applicable - this is my blog dammit). around last call at the bar, we decided we wanted stay in the city rather than brave the 45 minute drive at 2 am after a couple drinks. after driving around for an hour and a half it was apparent that not even the most ghetto neighborhood motels had vacancies so it was back to the north bay for a mildly scary drive home behind the wheel (scary because i was so effing tired). at 4:30 am we finally got home and while i turned my back for one moment, dylan was changed, in bed, and asleep. it was a really long night.
sunday was a quiet day for me, in which i made dinner for emily and i. i went home, picked up a bit, and read. it was a quiet end to a fun weekend.
overall, i give the weekend a most enthusiastic two thumbs up. a great way to end what was a pretty stressful week.
