weirdest lunch ever

my ceo heinot is a really eccentric 70+ year old german. he invited me to lunch today. i rode in a porsche for the first time. i ate at my boss's vietnamese restaurant. anyway, it was really weird and cool and odd and creepy. let me expand.

first, did i already mention heinot is eccentric? okay, onward then. he likes to tell me stories about his service in the german air force during world war II. i told him i watched a very long engagement which was basically about french soldiers during world war II. he found it amusing that they were called "jerries" by the french. they (the germans) called the french "hinkels" or chickens. he drives a porsche. i could give two shits about cars, but visualize for a moment a super new, super fast sports car with an eccentric, elderly german in the car recounting his years in the german air force. now you may understand why this was such a weird lunch.

second, when we walk into my direct boss (nhon) restaurant. immediately i get weird looks for being with heinot. the waitress actually asks if i am his friend. heinot gives her a dirty look and as she walks away he says "she's too nosy" very matter-of-factly. we get food. over awkwardly spaced conversation we talk about his carotid artery surgery, his children, his house in cotati and how it feels to look up at the sky and see 1000 bombers.

third, life is weird. i kinda like it.

listening: schneider tm reconfigures on my iPod mini. :)
